Board of Directors Bob PattonBob Patton joined the Friends of the Library Board in September 2006. This is his second year of serving on the FOL Membership Committee. Raised in Bakersfield, California, he received an AA from Bakersfield College, a BA from West Texas A & M University, and an MA from the University of California, Los Angeles. He taught one year in Amarillo, Texas before joining the Los Angeles City Schools where he worked for 31 years as a teacher, research specialist and psychologist. Since moving to Portland twelve years ago, Bob has worked with the Oregonians for Alternatives to the Death Penalty organization as well as volunteering for City Commissioner Sam Adams in his office. He has volunteered at both the Northwest and St. Johns library branches, working mainly with the Pageturners groups. Lately, he has been seen helping at the Library Days in connection with the November 2006 Library Levy. And you may have seen him in the "LibrariesYES!" television advertisement. Bob and his wife Nancy are the parents of four children and eleven grandchildren. Even though he is retired, he still works as a companion caregiver for older adults. Besides staying busy reading recently published books, he is also trying to read some of the older books he missed reading as a younger person. previous •back to board • next top
