Board of Directors Elayne ScoofakesAfter many, many years working as a librarian, English teacher, and curriculum coordinator in Illinois, Colorado, Utah, Japan, and Greece Elayne retired to live in Portland. The things that made her choose Portland included the climate, Powell's Book Store, the Multnomah County Library system and the Tri-Met public transit system. The art museum, symphony, opera, and ballet company are added bonuses. Some of Elayne's recent activities have included volunteering in the Friends' Library Store, working to pass the library levy, teaching a two-week library seminar for high school teachers in Phnom Penh, and helping her daughter-in-law open her high school library in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. She has also been spending time traveling to Greece, Mexico, and Arizona; reading (of course), and tending her patio garden. previous •back to board • 10next top
