Joan's suggestions for good books include Garden of the Brave in War by Oregon's own Terence O'Donnell, a memoir that provides a humanizing view of the people of Iran.

Joan Thompson

Joan has been a Portland resident since 2004. For the past three years she has worked for academic library vendors. Before moving to Portland, she worked for ten years in academic libraries in Boston and Texas. Her many volunteer activities have included computer literacy training at the North Portland Library computer lab and a language and computer literacy training program for the Central American immigrant community in Cambridge, MA. She's an avid fan of the Portland Farmers Market and supporting local farmers.
