Teen Lounges

Multnomah County Library Teen Lounge project provides a meeting place used exclusively by teens at designated times in a number of the branches during the week. Trained volunteers support teens during their time in the Teen Lounge. The goals for the Teen Lounges include:

  • Welcoming teens, a traditionally underserved group, into the library
  • Increasing connection to educational institutions
  • Providing educational support for teens at the Library
  • Helping teens to value the Library as an enjoyable place where they can connect with a community of peers
  • Creating lifelong library users.

The Friends of the Library granted funds for a variety of materials to enhance what is offered at the Teen Lounges including school supplies, comfortable chairs, teen magazines, bulletin boards for postings of interest to teens, games such as chess and materials for craft projects.
