MembershipThe one-year membership benefits include a 10% discount on used books and merchandise purchased at the Friends Library Store in the Central Library (801 SW 10th), invitation to our Annual Meeting that features a speaker from the literary world, entry during Members Only Night at the Fall used book sale and mailed copies of the newsletter, Footnotes. In addition, many interesting volunteer opportunities are available to members. Membership fees are one of the three main ways in which we raise money to support our public library. The Friends also hold two book sales a year including a spring sale in East Multnomah County and the big fall sale in Portland and operates the store with sales of good quality used books and gifts with reading and writing themes. Membership forms are available on this website. Please mail the form with payment to Friends of the Library, 522 SW 5th Ave., Suite 1103, Portland, OR 97204. We are not able to accept memberships by Internet at this time. Call 503-224-9176 with any questions. As Friends of Multnomah County Library, we encourage inquiring, imagining, dreaming, creating, and discovering. We enhance the library and all its branches as advocates to strengthen and protect the entire system. The Friends of Multnomah County Library is a non-profit community organization dedicated to supporting the Multnomah County Library. We accomplish this primarily by promoting public involvement in the Library and by raising money through the Friends' Library Store and an annual Spring and Fall Book Sale. The Friends conduct Oregon’s largest book sale (more than 100,000 items). And we have a Friends' Library Store in the Central Library, a joy to visit with its book-related items such as literary T-shirts and tote bags, writing materials, used books, and cards -- all with words of wisdom. Profits from the book sale and the store go to our library system. So, you see that becoming a Friend helps a friend, your library. We encourage you and your friends to join us. For your convenience, our membership form can be downloaded, completed and mailed to our office. (pdf format - download Acrobat Reader) If you have questions or wish to have membership brochures to give to your friends, please call Sara Lindgren, our office manager, at 503-224-9176. top
