Thanks for your interest in volunteering with Friends of the Multnomah County Library! For over 50 years, volunteers have been at the heart of everything we do. Every month, our volunteers contribute more than 600 hours of their time, helping us raise vital funds that support the Library’s incredible programs and services.

Current Volunteer Opportunities
Rose City Reads - Bookstore & Sort Room
Come help out at our used bookstore! We're looking for friendly folks to assist with:
Customer service
Sorting and shelving books
Online sales and order fulfillment
Event support and marketing
Helpful skills: Experience with books or retail is a big plus. Must be able to lift boxes of books and be at least 18 years old.
Time commitment: Weekly shifts for at least 6 months.
Shifts available: Tuesday – Saturday,
11:00 AM – 2:00 PM
2:00 PM – 5:00 PM
We especially need help with shelving and online shipping on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons.

Friends Library Store – Central Library
Join us at the Friends Library Store inside the Central Library! Volunteers help with:
Customer service
Stocking shelves with books and merchandise
Light marketing tasks
Helpful skills: Retail or customer service experience is welcome but not required. Must be 18 or older.
Time commitment: Weekly shifts for at least 6 months.
Shifts available: Friday – Saturday
12:00 PM – 2:30 PM
2:30 PM – 5:00 PM
