Thanks for your interest in volunteering with Friends of the Multnomah County Library! For over 50 years, volunteers have been at the heart of everything we do. Every month, our volunteers contribute more than 600 hours of their time, helping us raise vital funds that support the Library’s incredible programs and services.

General Assistance
Come help out at Rose City Reads bookstore or at the Friends Library Store! We're looking for friendly folks to assist with:
Customer service
Sorting and shelving books
Online sales and order fulfillment
Event support and marketing

Event Volunteer
Does your schedule not allow you to volunteer regularly, but you still want to help? Then, apply to be part of our event outreach team! You can find us at events across Portland, which means we need volunteers to represent Friends of the Library at our booth.

We’re not currently accepting board applications, but we appreciate your interest! Our next recruitment cycle will begin in Spring 2026, so please check back then for opportunities to get involved at a leadership level.
